What we’ve been up to

Software & Security Engineering Internships are live!

Fifteen software engineering interns recently completed their summer internship at Twitch. The 2024 cohort participated in a variety of activities, including pair coding, chocolate making, an Engineering summit, an Alcatraz tour, deejaying for the company All Hands, and in true program tradition, presenting their Kappastone projects at the end of the summer. We had an absolute blast and are lucky to have hosted such talented students.

Everything We Announced at TwitchCon San Diego

We’re back, San Diego! We’re so excited to return to SoCal with Twitch community members from across the world. We’ve got three jam packed days of Rivals, sponsor giveaways, meet and greets, Creator Camp, and more.

Introducing the Twitch DJ Program

Today we’re announcing a dedicated program that will enable DJs to stream the vast majority of popular music in a new DJ Category. This is made possible by a first-of-its-kind partnership with hundreds of companies, including all of the major labels–Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music and a large number of independent labels and other rights holders represented by Merlin. We’re proud to be the first major service to provide a safe, long-term home for DJs to livestream, and we are excited to now be able to promote and support these creators as they build communities on our service and beyond.

Together for Mod Appreciation Day

Moderators are essential to the Twitch experience. With their iconic green swords, they serve your favorite communities as welcoming voices, knowledgeable helpers, and enforcers of chat all in one. As a thank you for all their work, today, April 11, we’re bringing the entire Twitch community together to shine a much deserved spotlight on all the Mods for Mod Appreciation Day!

Our Plans for 2024: An Open Letter from Twitch CEO Dan Clancy

The last year has been an exciting time for me since I took on the role of CEO at Twitch. The highlight of that year has been the time that I’ve spent with the Twitch community, whether it is in person at events such as TwitchCon or online while streaming. What is clear to me in all of my interactions is that Twitch is a unique service and the passion that each of you have for Twitch is truly special.

Zoe Willis

Hi! My name is Zoe Willis and I’m a Program Manager on the Twitch Music Operations team.I started working in music at the University of Southern California, where I booked and produced music festivals for students on campus. I’ve always loved being a part of fan communities, and when I saw that Twitch had a strong commitment to helping artists build communities of their own, I knew I wanted to join the team.Currently, I enable Twitch to acquire new music creators at scale. I partner with cross-functional teams like Marketing, Legal, PR, and Product to help empower artists to develop their communities and earn a living doing what they love. I also really enjoy working with partners to come up with content ideas; it allows me to get creative!I’m a member of both the Black Guild and Women+ Guild. I joined Twitch during the lockdown, so being a Guild member has helped me meet other employees and immerse myself in Twitch’s culture, even though we’re not in the office. I love participating in events the Guilds host like speakers, panels and even cooking classes!Fun Fact: I’m currently taking Japanese language lessons

Using Algorithms to Meet Accessibility Requirements for Color Contrast

My name is Ben Cole and I am a Front End Engineer on the Core UI design systems team. Our team creates the building blocks which designers and engineers use to make user interfaces for Twitch products. While doing this foundational work, we try to balance things like accessibility considerations, brand guidelines, and the creativity of the Twitch community.

A big part of Twitch is community and self expression. We wanted to bring that into our products, and let our creators pick colors to customize UI elements which represent their channel and identity. Giving users the freedom to pick colors creates a challenge: how do we make sure that the chosen colors are clearly visible?
