Creator Camp

Twitch Etiquette

With every broadcast, you represent yourself, your brand, and your community. Modeling the type of behavior you want your viewers to also champion can help curate a community that reflects you.

TWITCH TIP:
Highlight viewers that are a perfect fit for your community. Uplift and showcase members who positively contribute to your broadcast.

Rules

Establish a clear set of rules and boundaries to guide your chat and community interactions. You can add a custom message to highlight guidelines that new chatters will have to agree to before they can begin chatting.

Do

  • Develop your own unique set of rules for your channel and chat to follow

  • Spend time in communities that are fun, inspiring, and encouraging

  • Connect with other creators on and off of Twitch

  • Consider what opportunities you have to celebrate your viewers, subscribers, and communities that raid

Don’t

  • Assume everyone will follow the rules you create

  • Promote your own channel or others in another creator’s chat or channel.

  • Place personal expectations on how someone does or does not respond to you

TWITCH TIP:
Many streamers keep their view count hidden while they stream. Bringing up how many viewers a streamer has, regardless of the number, is often not appreciated. Creators set their rules to keep themselves and their community in good spirits so they can create the best content for viewers.
